Professionally, we're soulmates.
We love working with the same populations and are deeply clinically aligned on how to best support our clients. We have bonded for years over our therapeutic and humanitarian perspectives, and we feel we can best support our clients as a team thanks to our complementary skillsets.
Our therapeutic alignment emphasizes our underlying beliefs and ethics in the way we see the world. Our work is a manifestation of our core values, our mutual belief that collaboration brings out the best in people, and what it means to us to contribute to shared human experiences in serving our community.

No, unfortunately we do not accept insurance, but we do accept HSA cards and superbilling.
Because we take a non-pathologizing approach to treatment, aka not focused on the diagnoses but rather on problem-solving the challenges life throws at clients, we do not take insurance. We want to be able to collaborate directly with our clients on what specific kind of care will be the best fit for their needs without interference from an insurance company. We believe you are the expert of your own experience and needs, not a third party. For more information on why it could be a better fit for you to see an out-of-network provider, click here.
That said, some insurance companies will accept “superbills” from out of network providers. Please feel free to contact your insurance company to ask if this is an available option for partial reimbursement. I have the paperwork on deck if needed, and we can navigate it together. For more information on what superbilling is, click here. -
This depends on the needs of the client, mutual schedule availability, where the client is in their therapeutic process, and how much work the client wants to do outside of our sessions. It is not uncommon for us to meet with clients weekly initially but gradually reduce to every other week and then to monthly as needed.
That said, in our clinical experiences, the process of change requires active participation. We want to help you achieve your therapeutic goals, and also, the more work you put in, the more efficiently those goals can get met.
We do not want to keep you in therapy forever. Our hope is for you to have the confidence and empowerment to provide yourself with the benefits you get out of therapy. Depending on your needs and your readiness to put in the work to create change, this may take anywhere between a few months to a couple years.
If you identify additional therapeutic goals, we can always extend or re-initiate treatment as needed. Ultimately, healing happens at whatever pace feels right for you, and we will always meet you where you are. We don't want to just create change, we want it to be sustainable and meaningful for you.

Counseling is a broad term that includes talk therapy, psycho-education, and skill building in the hopes of resolving problematic thought patterns and behaviors, strengthening relationships, processing past traumas, increasing mind/body connectivity, and facilitating personal growth.
Psychiatry is a medical specialty that utilizes medication as a primary tool for addressing mal-adaptations in mood, thought, and perception. Psychiatrists complete medical school and are thus able to prescribe medications to clients. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are able to do so as well. Some people choose to receive psychotropic medications from their primary care provider, others prefer receiving those services from a specialist.Counselors, social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists are all qualified to assess for and diagnose clients with mental health diagnoses.
It is normal and common for clients to seek both counseling and psychiatric assistance for managing their mental health symptoms. Allie and Ellison are licensed professional counselors, so we do not provide medication services. If you would like a referral to a medication provider, we are happy to help you find one. And if you already have a medication provider, we are happy to collaborate on your treatment with them. -
Our professional licenses are issued by state, therefore we are only able to provide treatment to those residing in our respective states of licensure. Allie is licensed in Ohio, Ellison is licensed in Massachusetts, and we are able to provide telehealth services to anyone in our respective states.
Unfortunately we are unable to see clients in other states at this time, but we are happy to make referrals to other incredible clinicians in your area.
For therapist databases, we recommend checking out Psychology Today, Open Path Collective, Therapy Den, KAP Directory, or your insurance company's website.

Capybaras are known for their kindness, gentleness, adaptability, and of course their greatest strength: spending quality time with any and every other species of animal.
That’s our whole vibe - we see the strengths in everyone we meet and are non-judgmentally present with each of our clients. Plus we proudly identify as mild to moderate weirdos, hence random song references and puns, so it seems fitting to have an oddball animal to represent our practice. And you’ll…Remember The Name.

I occasionally work with older teens and would love to provide a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your teen’s presenting concern and determine if we’re a good fit. However, I do not work with children under the age of 15 at this time. I am happy to provide referrals to other fantastic clinicians who specialize in working with younger populations.

My professional license allows me to see clients anywhere in the state of Ohio. If you live in a non-Columbus part of Ohio and would like to receive telehealth counseling with yours truly, that is absolutely an option. Unfortunately I am unable to see clients in other states but am happy to make referrals to other incredible clinicians in your area.

At the moment, I do not have a physical office which means that I do not offer "traditional" in-person sessions. However, I am able to meet with folks anywhere in Massachusetts via telehealth and am able to offer walk-and-talk or nature-based therapy sessions in Middlesex County. Connection with nature and physical movement can be extremely therapeutic for many and I am excited to incorporate these into my practice.
In order to support flexibility and creativity in this non-traditional counseling environment, I only offer walk-and-talk/nature-based therapy as 85-minute sessions.
*Due to ongoing community health concerns surrounding COVID-19, I am only able to see fully vaccinated clients for in-person appointments at this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. -

I have worked primarily with children and adolescents at several points in my career and am passionate about creating a more welcoming and accepting world, especially for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent youth. My work with young people, like my work with adults, focuses on self-acceptance and learning to navigate environments that are mismatched to our needs and strengths rather than addressing specific symptoms or conditions.
My therapy style is very open-ended and exploratory which can be challenging for some younger folks, but great for those who are seeking to build insight and learn more about themselves, or for those looking for a nonjudgmental and affirming space in which to process their experiences. Children who benefit most from working with me already have a good understanding of basic coping strategies and are seeking deeper authenticity and identity work.
I also offer gender-affirming medical care assessments for youth with parental consent, family therapy, and consultations for creating neurodiversity-affirming accommodations at home and school.
If you think I could be a good fit for your child, please feel free to schedule a phone consultation to discuss.

Firstly, because many of my identities have been historically classified by their "weirdness" (queer, quirky, eccentric, etc.) and because I've been called weird plenty of times with varying levels of affection. I'm reclaiming all of that and calling myself a weirdo with as much affection and self-love as I can possibly muster.
Secondly, because I love puns and visual imagery. Here are a few puns and (and related visual metaphors) that I think would make good therapy practice names.
Too Mushroom for Feelings (Therapy often feels like a mycelial system, spreading roots far and wide but only visible in small bursts after a long period of growth and change)
Water You Going to Sea In Yourself? (I often feel like I'm venturing into a vast ocean of self with my clients--whether the waves are choppy or the surface is smooth there's a wealth of beauty and joy and complexity beneath the surface and often I have to rely on my clients to be a scuba diver and share what they have found when they surface)
