Tell me if this resonates…
Has it been hard for you lately to navigate change? Like your typical coping strategies haven’t been enough?
Have you felt the pressure to present as more “put together” than you really feel? Do you deny yourself the opportunity to focus on your needs because it feels more important to “be strong” for others through these changes?
And do you bottle your emotions because you don’t want to “burden” others with what you’re going through?
Do you find it hard to show yourself the same kindness, patience, and understanding you so freely afford to others? Do you find it hard to give yourself permission to be your genuine, authentic self?
Do you wish you had someone to talk to about how to honor your needs and maneuver these changes? Someone non-judgmental, compassionate, straight forward, collaborative, and empowering?
If any of the above made you think, “Yes! That’s exactly how I feel.” Welcome to Capybara.
I’m Allie Nerderman, a mental health counselor who provides individual counseling, group therapy, community trainings, and gender affirming medical care assessments in Ohio.
Free Grief Space: Eyes on Palestine
We grieve together, we retain our shared humanity together.
This is a free space to process our grief related to witnessing the prolonged horrors in Gaza.
This is not a formal therapy group but rather a free virtual support group for those who want community in sharing and holding their collective grief.
All of our emotions - rage, despair, confusion, loneliness, frustration, exhaustion, disappointment, worry, sadness, guilt, helplessness, discomfort, volatility, regret, fear, restlessness, disgust, vulnerability, hope - are welcome here.
Here, we will take time to process the immensity of our grief, together as a virtual community. The level of atrocity and inhumanity in Gaza right now is unfathomable, and for many of us it feels impossible to digest the magnitude of loss in real time. We do not need to carry this burden alone, for we are in this together.
All adults are welcome. As humans, we can empathize with the pain we are collectively suffering together. The grief we feel for our Jewish, Congolese, Sudanese, and Lebanese siblings shall be honored here too.
This space is available via Zoom on Mondays from 8-9pm EST (5-6pm PST).
If you are looking for a space to unpack your grief, you belong and are welcome here.
Please note: Bigotry, hate speech, hostility, Islamophobia, and anti-Semitism will not be tolerated and Allie reserves the right to remove anyone from participating if they cannot demonstrate respect towards fellow attendees.
Please note: RSVP for any given session is not required, but sign up is required in order to receive the Zoom link
In addition to mental health counseling services, I also provide online courses and trainings to the public.
